Abstract
ABSTRACTThis case reports a suicide executed with an unusual, though once commercially available,.22 calibre compressed air/explosive propellent rifle. The ammunition is caseless. Detonation occurs when a jet of compressed air is released to produce high temperatures at the base of the cartridge. No nitrites are present in discarge residues thus the usual method of estimating muzzle to target distance on this basis is void. Technical data and references are included.
