Abstract
A 24-year-old, previously healthy, male student was referred for endoscopy. He complained of intermittently passing mucus and blood per anum, constipation, and mild abdominal discomfort. Endoscopy showed Paris type 0-Is/0-IIa lesions in the distal rectum (Figures A and B). On biopsy gastric heterotopia was diagnosed. The lesion was removed (Figure C) and the complete pathology work-up confirmed gastric corpus–type heterotopia with foveolar hyperplasia without signs of neoplastic transformation (Figure D; normal colonic mucosa on the left side).
