Abstract

Question: A 54-year-old man presented to the emergency department with nausea, nonbloody nonbiliary emesis, left lower quadrant abdominal pain and profuse watery nonbloody diarrhea for the last 24 hours before presentation. He was unable to tolerate oral intake for the last few days before presentation. He denied recent travel, sick contacts, and consuming raw milk or meat. He denied smoking, drinking alcohol, or using illicit drugs. His vitals were remarkable for tachycardia at 106/min. He was afebrile.
