Abstract

Question: A 57-year-old man presented with intermittent epigastric pain, accompanied by belching and regurgitation occasionally. His medical records revealed that upper gastrointestinal endoscopy found varices in gastric fundus 3 years ago. However, he did not experience any onset of gastrointestinal bleeding or anemia ever since. Repeated color Doppler ultrasound examination and contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) scan failed to determine the etiology. The patient also denied any chronic liver diseases or known pancreatic disorders.
