Abstract

Question: A 15-year-old boy presenting with repeated melena and anemic symptoms for 2 weeks was transferred to our center. He had no history of alcohol, drug, or herb abuse; he also had no previous history of diseases except a Paragonimus westermani infection six years before from eating raw crabs, which had been cured with praziquantel and rechecked to be negative for several times. On admission, he had a heart rate of 103 beats/min, respiratory rate of 25 breaths/min, and normal blood pressure and body temperature.
