Abstract

A 29-year-old African-Caribbean male presented with right-sided flank pain and 20-lb weight loss over one year. Physical examination showed mild peri-umbilical tenderness. Laboratory studies showed hemoglobin 9.3 gm/dl, elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (65 mm/h), and C-reactive protein (15 mg/ml). QuantiFERON gold was negative. X-ray of the abdomen and pelvis showed dilated proximal small bowel with a stricture in the mid-jejunum (Figure A). Stricture could not be reached with a push enteroscopy.
