Abstract

Intussusception is a rare complication of gastrointestinal (GI) immunoglobulin light chain amyloidosis. We report a unique case of systemic light chain (AL) amyloidosis with small bowel involvement which presented with GI haemorrhage and mechanical obstruction caused by intussusception. A 78-year-old female with a known history of kappa multiple myeloma presented with a two day history of coffee ground emesis and severe generalised abdominal pain. Abdominal CT imaging confirmed a mid-small bowel obstruction with intussusception and the patient proceeded to surgical resection.
