Abstract

Wide surgical excisions performed for skin tumour removal often need a graft to obtain good quality closure. In some cases, a residual depression is observed, leading to a poor cosmetic result. Recently, the use of a dermal regeneration template-type dressing (Integra, Integra Lifescience Corp, Plainsboro, NJ, US) has been proposed to give a better functional and cosmetic result of the graft. We report here on an unexpected side-effect observed in a patient who underwent surgery for a malignant melanoma and was subsequently treated with this dressing.
