Abstract

Abstract This chapter presents an investigation into the intricacies surrounding gender equality measures in tourism workplaces in Portugal. It begins with a brief introduction to the history of gender equality measures in tourism labour, followed by an analysis of various aspects of gender equality implementation that arose during the empirical research. The analysis sections focus on who was perceived as responsible for implementation of gender equality measures (the company or the state); the types of gender equality measures in place in Portuguese tourism businesses; and the role of female managers in implementing gender equality measures.
