Abstract

In this brief, a novel ultrawideband multi-component differential magnetic probe is proposed. Two pairs of differential loops and connecting vias were used to simultaneously sense two orthogonal magnetic-field components (Hx and Hy). Two rows of via fences next to the loops were used to prevent unwanted electromagnetic modes. The operating frequency band of the proposed probe ranges from the 1 MHz to 20 GHz. The accuracy of the proposed probe is verified by comparing its measurement and simulation results. This significantly improves the near-field scanning efficiency compared with the conventional single-component probe.
