Abstract

An ultrasonic television system with a Lamb-wave technique for the inspection of flat reactor fuel plates is described. The system offers good resolution, high inspection speed and good sensitivity to the discontinuities of interest. A combined inspection system, in which a preliminary test would be made with this system and a final test of suspect items made with a mechanically scanned system, could make good use of the advantages of both.
