Abstract

A new method, called the SO-DGTD method, for solving time-dependent Maxwell’s equations via the discontinuous Galerkin time domain (DGTD) method in dispersive media is presented. The shift operator (SO) method is used to represent the constitutive relations. This method has a universal equation for dispersive media models, i.e. the Debye model, the Drude model, and the Lorentz model. The algorithm is validated by studying the radar cross-section (RCS) of a hybrid dispersive sphere and a suddenly created plasma problem.
