Abstract

For the simulation of large-scale AC/DC hybrid system, a real-time hybrid transient simulation platform is proposed by combining the real-time digital simulator (RTDS) and a transient stability analysis (TSA) program. In this platform, a GTFGPA card is used to realize the high speed digital communication between RTDS and the computer deploying TSA program. A frequency dependent network equivalent (FDNE) is also implemented to improve the simulation precision. Moreover, the computational cost of the FDNE component is reduced by compacting and partitioning the high-dimensional matrix. The validity of the proposed platform is demonstrated by simulating a modified New England 39-bus test system incorporated HVDC components.
