Abstract

A review of recent studies has revealed that the semiconductor metal oxide catalyst exhibits better performance and photocatalytic activity due to re-alteration and re-structural of the material upon optical and electronic behaviours. It is expected to reduce the band gap value, as a results, therefore, the photocatalyst could be potential to be used in the visible light conditions rather in UV light. The modification of metal oxide is expected to lower the band gap energy which then allowed the use of visible light instead of UV light and shortened the contact time of the reactions. In addition, the rapid growth of industrialization especially discharges of organic effluents from the industries make the scientist to come out with new catalysts to overcome these problems.
