Abstract

Osmosis is a fundamental water flow process through a selectively semi-permeable membrane. In this study, we overview the osmosis principle in the living cell and the implication of forwarding osmosis (FO). Various draw solutes (DS) and selective membranes are introduced in the FO process to identify their characters. By recognizing the character of the most important part of the FO process, it is hoped to increase knowledge and find the latest development strategies in wastewater treatment and desalination.
