Abstract

The chapter deals with agro-economic characteristics of Sonitpur district of Assam. The characteristics is based on the variables such as climate, soil, demographic feature, sex ratio, literacy, working profile, land use pattern and operational land holding, area, production & productivity trend of main crops, cropping pattern, crop rotation, irrigation pattern, basic marketing infrastructure for agricultural a produce (Post Harvest Management), community canning & training center, major ongoing schemes and impact of agricultural scheme, Number of educational institutions, credit facilities, weights and measures and finally electricity facility. All the variables have presented with well-developed tables so that it could be useful for the researchers who are interested to conduct socio-economic study on Sonitpur district of Assam.
