Abstract
Data modem design using microprocessors and VLSI design techniques is becoming increasingly popular. As the interest grows, the number of published papers increases, making the need for a comprehensive bibliography on the subject necessary. The purpose of this paper is to provide such a bibliography. In addition to the bibliography, we have also incorporated sections which serve to introduce and familiarize the reader with the state-of-the-art in mode design. The various data modem types are discussed, as well as the types of microprocessors and VLSI used in data modem design. Also included is a discussion on the impacts of technology in data modem design. Elements of the processor and the interface, as well as one implementation of digital filtering, are also described. Finally, a comprehensive bibliography is provided on the recent research and development in modem design and implementation.
