Abstract

Multiuser detection (MUD) can increase the system capacity. Wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) systems adopt this new technology, but the capacity limitation still exists due to other cells' multiple access interference (MAI). We propose a fuzzy call admission control (FCAC) for WCDMA using MUD with successive interference cancellation (SIC). The FCAC considers both intra-cell and inter-cell MAI, and it is designed to maximize the benefit of MUD. Simulation results show that the FCAC with MUD can provide more accurate management of system resource than FCAC with RAKE receiver and SIR-based CAC with MUD in WCDMA systems.
