Abstract

An original self-turning PI controller applied to d-q axis decoupling double closed-loop control system is proposed for STATCOM to suppress the voltage fluctuation of the point of common coupling (PCC) in wind farm. The artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC algorithm) is an advanced swarm intelligence algorithm and is widely used in parameters optimization. At first, the bee colony position initialization mothed and position update formula of the traditional ABC algorithm are improved in this paper, which make the optimization accuracy and convergence speed significantly improved. Then the integral of absolute error (IAE) index in PCC voltage is employed as the evaluation function. This improved ABC algorithm (IABC algorithm) can optimize the proportional and integral (PI) coefficient of PCC voltage outer-loop PI controller. The simulation and experimental results not only show that the control effect of the IABC algorithm is better than ABC algorithm, but also show that this original PI controller can improve the response speed of STATCOM to compensate reactive power and suppress the PCC voltage fluctuation in wind farm.
