Abstract

As the construction technique of cement-soil composite piles is winning general popularity in building industry, the development of new types of piling machines has witnessed a growing trend in China in recent years. In the paper, a mechanical analysis for a piling machine column is conducted, based on the virtual prototype proposed in a previous portion of our research work in this area. To obtain the stress distribution at certain interesting locations of the column, working conditions are defined. In accordance with the simulation results, optimum design is carried out for the joint between the column and the tension diagonal, as well as that between the column and base frame. Finally, the strength adequacy of the vertical column is validated. With the optimum method, the design cycle of piling machine is greatly shortened and the analysis cost decreased.
