Abstract
In this paper, a maintenance strategy is developed to determine the optimal number of preventive maintenance actions to carry out over the finite operating time span H for a manufacturing system satisfying several demands. The system is composed of dry machining which produces two types of products (steel products and aluminum products). At any given time, the machine is able to produce one type of product, and then switches to another. This is done by modeling and minimizing the expected total maintenance cost considering the influence of production rates on the system degradation. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the use of the proposed approach and to discuss the obtained results.
