Abstract
An optimal control problem of a flexible thin plate formulated bypartial differential equations with viscoelastic boundary conditionsis studied in this paper. The problem is written in standard form oflinear infinite dimensional system in an appropriate energy Hilbertspace. The semigroup approach of linear operators is adopted ininvestigating well-posedness of the closed loop system. An optimalenergy control is proposed, and existence and uniqueness of theoptimal control are demonstrated, and an approximation theorem isproved in terms of semigroup approach and geometric method.
