Abstract
We have proposed an optically tunable optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) incorporating a single passband microwave photonic filter (MPF) based on an electro-optic phase modulator and a Fabry-Perot semiconductor optical amplifier (FP-SOA). By replacing the electrical bandpass filter in a traditional single-loop OEO with the MPF, the oscillating frequency can be simply tuned by altering the bias current of the FP-SOA.
