Abstract

This measurement is based on the location of a laser beam on a photodiode. The radial run-out of a rotating machine part is measured in at least two planes. Thus the position of the axis of rotation can be determined for all angular positions of the rotating element. The deviation of parallelisme between a slide path and the axis of rotation can be calculated by the determination of the slide path (deviation of straightness) with respect to the axis of rotation. This methode can be especially useful for application to large machine tools whereby difficulties in dial micrometer measurement arise due to the deviation of the test mandrel.
