Abstract

SUMMARY An overview of the content of work in a National TEMPUS office is given, concentrating on aspects that do not directly follow from official papers about the scheme. The framework in which the office has to function, the scope of contacts particularly from the two main Actions (Joint European Projects and Individual Mobility Grants), and relations with the staff and students from Latvian and Western universities, national authorities and other organizations in Latvia and abroad are discussed on the basis of personal experience. Some problems arising from practical implementation of the scheme in a small country are indicated.
