Abstract

An operating method at beam injection in a compact electron storage ring system is presented for reduction of the damping time of horizontal betatron oscillations. Quadrupole magnets with large K values are introduced so as to increase the horizontal damping partition number and they are operated only during the beam injection. Application to low energy beam injection into an electron storage ring shows that the damping time of the betatron oscillations at beam injection can be reduced to about 1/8 of its value with the conventional operating scheme.
