Abstract

In this paper, a real-time open-circuit fault diagnosis method for T-type three-level rectifiers is proposed. Not only the fault detection but also the faulty switch identification can be realized in the proposed fault diagnosis algorithm. The presented fault diagnosis method is based on the instant voltage error of the line-to-line voltages and the dc-link voltage which are already available in the control system. And hence, no more additional hardware is needed. Besides the proposed method has the advantages of fast response, and the faulty switch can be identified within two fundamental periods. Simulation and experimental results show the performance of the proposed fault diagnosis strategy.
