Abstract
Abstract All members of the NPC Standing Committee and all members of the Legal Commission: The "China Human Rights League" sets a high value on the establishment of the "Legal Commission" and the appointment of Comrade Peng Zhen as its chairman. It is our opinion that the establishment of the commission marks the Chinese Communist Party's attempt to end the horrifying era when there were no laws to follow or when laws were willfully trampled upon, and to change the situation of society in which people constantly live in fear. It also shows that the Chinese Communist Party is trying to develop the country under its leadership into a modern society and begin its effort to establish the democratic socialism (system) as demanded by the people. We believe these efforts will be encouraged by the support of the people's strength and will bear fruit through the participation of the people's forces. We hope that the "Legal Commission" will play an outstanding role in these attempts and efforts. The China Human Rights League pledges its full support to any progressive undertakings of the commission and at the same time offers its views in regard to the commission's work.
