Abstract

This phase IIIb, multicenter, open-label, randomized study, compared cycle control, quality of life, safety, and contraceptive efficacy of CTR 25, Alesse™, and Ortho Tri-Cyclen® at seven sites across Canada, 202 sexually active women were randomized to either CTR 25, Alesse™, or Ortho Tri-Cyclen® for six cycles of 28 days each. The three regimens were found to have similar cycle control, quality of life, contraceptive efficacy, and safety. This demonstrates that two 20 mcg ethinyl estradiol (EE) preparations have an equivalent profile to a 35 mcg ethinyl estradiol preparation.
