Abstract

An onsite structure-parameter calibration method for large field of view (FOV) binocular stereovision based on a small-size 2D target is proposed. Compared with the traditional large-size target, a small-size 2D target is much easier to be manufactured with high accuracy and can be used in onsite calibration. Compared with the 1D target, a 2D target can complete the calibration quickly with fewer calibration images. Additionally, operating and maintaining a small-size 2D target are considerably convenient and flexible. Calibration experiments show that only 5 placements of the calibration target can accomplish the accurate calibration of structure parameters and the average value of 10 measurements for a distance of 1071mm is 1071.057mm with a RMS less than 0.2mm. Moreover, the measurement accuracy of the stereovision calibrated with our method is a little more accurate than that of the one calibrated with traditional method.
