Abstract
A dual IGBTs open-circuit fault on-line diagnostic method for AC-DC converters used in railway electric traction system is proposed in this paper. In high-speed railway electric traction system, the converter with a single-phase PWM rectifier is widely applied. The IGBTs of the rectifier are always the weakness part of the traction system. The work patterns of the rectifier working under faulty condition is studied. Then the Fourier transform is applied to analyze the input current of the rectifier. The harmonics around the switching frequency are obtained as the characteristic of AC faulty waveform. An IGBT open-circuit fault on-line diagnostic method based on frequency-domain analysis is developed. The proposed diagnostic method is a combination detection of the AC bias and harmonics, to deal with the dual IGBTs fault diagnosis. The experimental results are presented.
