Abstract

A major drawback of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is the high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmit signal which can significantly impact power efficiency and performance of a High Power Amplifier(HPA). This paper proposes a new novel scheme based on orthogonal greedy algorithm(OGA) to reduce PAPR. By performing simple transformations on Sub-optimum Partial Transmit Sequence (SOPTS), better PAPR reduction than the suboptimum PTS scheme is obtained with comparable computational complexity. There is also no need for side information to be transmitted to the receiver. To further evaluate their PAPR reductions we compare the proposed schemes with the suboptimum PTS scheme.
