Abstract

Successive approximation (SAR) ADC suffers from kinds of nonidealities such as offset and gain error which affect its absolute quantization range and reduce its performance in the high-precision applications. This paper presents a static offset and an embedded gain error calibration in analog domain, attempting to improve the conversion range error in SAR ADC architecture. The presented calibration technique reuses the CADC array, facilitating an analog-domain calibration within small dissipation.
