Abstract

DFRAME ( Design of steel FRAMEs), an object oriented program for the design of steel frames based on the AISC LRFD design specification, is developed and implemented in C + +. DFRAME runs either in bath mode or in interactive mode with a user-friendly graphical user interface. DFRAME is intented for use with the Growltiger analysis package and the DRAIN-2D nonlinear analysis program. In addition, DATON ( Detailing And Propor Tioning C ON sultant) has been developed to work under the ongoing IESL DICE project, which is a set of tools for collaborative engineering. DATON is a detailed structural analysis and design subsystem (currently limited to steel moment-resisting and braced frames). Using the AISC LRFD design specification, DFRAME has been used as the steel design subsystem component of DATON.
