Abstract

The intent of this note is to present an n-bounce approximate approach for analysis of radiative heat transfer in enclosures with anisotropic scattering media. This method is an extension of continuous and discrete exchange factor methods. It has been shown that the discrete exchange factor method is a very efficient method for analysis of radiative transfer in mulitidimensional enclosures with isotropic scattering media. In the n-bounce method, the total exchange factor is approximated by the summation of direct radiative and higher order terms resulting form multiple wall reflection and medium scattering. The present approach is applied to a number of three-dimensional radiative transfer problems in isotropically and anisotropically scattering media. Results calculated based on the present method are compared to the existing solutions in the literature.
