Abstract

The structural tuning of π-conjugated oligomers plays a key role in their photophysical properties in relation to photonic and electrical devices manufacture. While assembly of such oligomers through cross-coupling reactions is effective, modulation of reactivity (i.e., cross-coupling, homocoupling, polymerization) requires tedious interconversion of the terminal arenes’ functional group. The authors report an efficient method of iterative coupling via a silicon group with turn-on/turn-off capabilities.
