Abstract

The paper describes the construction and function of an isothermal twin calorimeter for the measurement of the fraction of absorbed energy of X-rays which is not converted to thermal energy (heat). This fraction, the „heat defect“ must be known in absolute dose calorimetry, since the calorimetrically measured absorbed dose in a given substance is too low by the value of the heat defect for the radiation and the substance used.
