Abstract

Dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) has received more and more attentions from academia and industry in the past two decades, Through continuous research and development, though the photoelectric conversion efficiency of DSSC has exceeded 11% for cell using titanium dioxide (TiO2), but still about two times lower than silicon cell technology. To overcome this limitation, this study developed highly efficient DSSCs by the fabrication methods. The conversion efficiency of DSSC could be improved by fabricating the thickness of the TiO2 layer, the silver reflection film, and the scattering layer. An efficiency of 5.94% was achieved for DSSCs with increasing the thickness of the TiO2 layer. We also fabricated silver reflection film to DSSC that had an efficiency of 6.44%. Furthermore, the best efficiency for a 70.92cm2 DSSC was obtained using the scattering layer. DSSCs fabricated by the proposed methods are highly efficient and can be produced at low cost.
