Abstract

The branching ratio of the 10B(n, α) 7Li ∗, 7Li reaction was measured at thermal neutron energies by irradiating a 10B film and measuring the relative number of α-particles in the peaks associated with the ground state and the first excited level. Detection was by a silicon surface barrier detector. The percent of reactions going to the ground state was found to be 6.43±0.11.
