Abstract

The region containing between 20 and 80 at.% Ag in the Ag-Zr phase diagram was studied using differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy methods. Two intermetallic compounds (AgZr 2 and AgZr) and their homogeneous regions were determined. The eutectic temperature of (Ag) and AgZr is 953 °C, the peritectic temperature of AgZr / ag L + AgZr 2 is 1153 °C. It was found that there is a eutectic reaction between Zr(β) and AgZr 2 at 1149 °C. A corrected phase diagram for the binary system Ag-Zr was established.
