Abstract

Performance of a horizontal agitator gasification reactor was investigated. Rotational speed of the agitator was fixed at 33 rpm. Rice husk was used as the feedstock. Its performance was compared with a down draft reactor. It was found that the agitator reactor has lower temperature than the down draft reactor. The trends of CO2, CO, CH4 and H2 molar fractions of the two reactors were opposite. For the agitator reactor, they decrease with air equivalent ratio (ER). The two reactors provided comparable cold gas efficiency in the range ER < 0.2. After that the efficiency of the down draft reactor was higher.
