Abstract

This article investigates differences in the structure of the purchasing function of enterprises buying different products and operating under different degrees of state control. The structure of the purchasing function is measured by four composite parameters especially developed for this research. These parameters express aspects of articulation, formalization, depth of analysis, and decentralization, respectively, and are measured for each of four purchasing cycles phases. Using regression analysis on data from certain Greek state-controlled enterprises, the article aims to determine whether or not enterprises operating under different degrees of state control and buying different product types exhibit different patterns of structural configuration across the four purchasing cycle phases.
