Abstract
The document is preliminary results for the experimental analysis of the stickiness of faecal sludge using the texture analyser. the document is the first set of results obtained from the procedure. Faecal sludge samples from ventilated improved pit Latrines (VIP) and urine diversion dry toilets (UDDT) from eThekwini Municipality were analyzed to quantify their stickiness. The moisture content of the faecal sludge was varied within the experiments from 40 to 80 wt% to find the effects of moisture content on stickiness. The stickiness was determined using a Stable microsystems TA. XT express texture analyzer. Rheology of the faecal sludge was evaluated using MR51 Anton Paar rheometer.
