Abstract
Theoretical and experimental methods were presented to study the propagation characteristics of elastic waves in PE/PE composite laminates. Approximate plate theories were explored to predict the dispersion of flexural mode of the elastic waves. Arrival times of the waves at different frequency were determined on the base of Gabor wavelet transform. A pencil lead break generated the elastic waves in orthotropy and quasi-isotropy PE/PE composite laminates. Experimental results illustrated more serious attenuation of the waves. The comparison between the experimental measurements and predictions showed good agreement.
