Abstract

A simplified geometry has been used in the examination of the effects of temperature on a turbine rotor disc for steady and cyclic loading. For steady loading creep solutions have been obtained which show the effect of non-isothermal conditions and various commonly applied approximations. For cyclic loading the effects of high transient stress during start-up and shutdown on the creep strain have been examined. The development of plastic strain and its effect on rotor creep are also considered.
