Abstract

This investigation is aimed at studying the effect of the geometric factors (Δ h0 R/h1 and W/h1) on the closure of internal holes in the rolled stock during flat rolling. The physical defects were simulated by artificial holes at varions positions, longitudinally, transversally and vertically. The specimens were rolled, then the deformed specimens were radio-graphed using X-ray technique. After magnification, the X-ray films were traced and the area of the deformed hole vas calculated The percentage closure of the hole area with respect to Δ h/ho B/h1 and W/h1 for different hole sises was obtained. Comparison between the effects of the different geometric factors on the closure of internal holes in flat rolling were drawn out.
