Abstract

An inverse modification method for the assignment of antiresonant frequencies at which no vibration will be experienced at the chosen multiple coordinates of a structure subjected to a single force is presented. And the method can also be used to assign the zero displacements at a specific frequency when the structure is subjected to multiple forces. The method determines the passive stiffness or mass modifications of the structure only by an analysis of the null space of a matrix containing the magnitudes of forces and the receptances at the coordinates of the excitations, the zero-displacement responses and the modifications. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate and validate the method.
