Abstract
For several years, the special section in TLE's April issue has focused on some aspect of offshore geophysical work. This has been deliberately done to put that issue into proximity with the massive Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) held annually in early May in Houston since 1969. OTC is almost universally regarded as the world's premier offshore-oriented conference, if not one of the biggest industry shows in general. It should be noted that OTC has expanded beyond the major event in Houston. There are now OTC Brasil, OTC Asia, and Arctic Technology conferences. SEG is one of the sponsoring societies for the OTC events, and, as such, it has representatives on the OTC Board of Directors (currently Wafik Beydoun) and the OTC (Houston) Program Committee (Joe Reilly, Charles Knobloch, and Rocco DeTomo). Additional volunteers also work within SEG's Technical Program Subcommittee to develop geosciences-oriented and other special-purpose sessions for OTC (Houston).
