Abstract

Hydrocephalus is one of the most common neurosurgical conditions or complications. Common treatment options have not changed in decades. However, recent technological advances and improvement in infection rates and outcomes have caused clinicians to rethink attitudes and understanding towards hydrocephalus and patient management. This article is the introduction to a series in which different types of hydrocephalus will be discussed, including various treatment options and recent technological advances that are improving outcomes and diagnostic techniques.
