The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 is transforming the delivery of health care in the United States from a volume-based, fee-for-service model to one that aims to reward the delivery of value-added care [1]. Currently, a majority of radiology practices use an array of process metrics to measure and manage their performance; however, soon they will need to embrace emerging, to-be-defined metrics that measure value and how radiologists contribute to health care costs and outcomes.
